"Eating Disorders Overview and Family Interventions"

Description:

The first half of the presentation will be an overview of the types of eating disorders, treatment, and interventions. 

The second half will focus on how the family plays a vital role in eating disorder recovery.

Presenter bio:

Lia's professional goal is to provide therapeutic services to those who struggle with eating, mood, and anxiety disorders. She graduated from her Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program in 2017 and gained experience working at a school, at a psychiatric emergency treatment center, and at a hospital. Since April 2018, she has been working for the Eating Recovery Center  / Pathlight Mood & Anxiety Center in the Woodlands, TX. There, she provides individual, family, and group therapy to adults and adolescents in partial hospitalization program to treat eating disorders and mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety. She supervises the safety of patients by assessing suicidality and assisting with emotional regulation. She also monitors meals and processes emotions relating to eating disorder thoughts and urges. She works with a clinical team, including psychiatrist, medical doctor, and registered dieticians, to provide excellent and informed care to patients.
